Papa's Spaghetti
 
 
Ingredients
  • 1.5 lb farmland breakfast sausage, ground
  • 19.2 oz.butterball ground turkey
  • 1 T unsalted butter
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 4oz canned mushrooms (stems and pieces)
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • ¼ C sherry
  • 28 oz container V's Spaghetti Sauce
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce no salt added
  • 15 oz can fire roasted diced tomato
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 T dried oregano
  • 1 T minced garlic
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Brown meats and drain completely
  2. Melt butter in dutch oven and sauté onion until clear and peppers are softened
  3. Add mushrooms and stir
  4. Add garlic and stir
  5. deglaze with sherry
  6. Add tomato sauce, diced tomato, bay leaf and oregano and bring to simmer stirring often over medium heat
  7. Add spaghetti sauce and reduce heat to med low.
  8. Simmer 1 hour
