Papa's Spaghetti
- 1.5 lb farmland breakfast sausage, ground
- 19.2 oz.butterball ground turkey
- 1 T unsalted butter
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 4oz canned mushrooms (stems and pieces)
- 1 carrot, grated
- ¼ C sherry
- 28 oz container V's Spaghetti Sauce
- 15 oz can tomato sauce no salt added
- 15 oz can fire roasted diced tomato
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 T dried oregano
- 1 T minced garlic
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Brown meats and drain completely
- Melt butter in dutch oven and sauté onion until clear and peppers are softened
- Add mushrooms and stir
- Add garlic and stir
- deglaze with sherry
- Add tomato sauce, diced tomato, bay leaf and oregano and bring to simmer stirring often over medium heat
- Add spaghetti sauce and reduce heat to med low.
- Simmer 1 hour
