Cornbread Dressing
- 1 pan day old Cornbread
- 7 slices of white bread torn into 1 inch cubes and oven dried
- 1 sleeve Ritz crackers
- 1 stick butter
- 1 C onions, diced
- 1 C celery, diced
- 1 C of red bell peppers diced
- 1 C shredded turkey meat
- 2 eggs beaten
- 7 C turkey broth
- 1 t kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1 T fresh sage minced,
- 1 T poultry seasoning
- Break cornbread up in a large bowl, along with the toast and crackers.
- Saute onions, celery and peppers in a little bit of butter until tender. When veg is almost done season with salt pepper sage and poultry seasoning
- Add the shredded turkey and sautéed veg into the cornbread mixture.
- Use your hands to really mix it up very well.
- Add the broth a cup at a time to make it thick & kinda soupy. Stir it up. Then toss with beaten egg.
- Lightly press into a buttered 9 X 13 casserole pan.
- Rest dressing overnight
- Preheat oven to 350
- Bake covered for 45 minutes or until set
- Serve with smoked oysters on the side
