Simply Awesome

This is the base for an awesome pizza. Make sure to melt the cheese slowly over very low heat to get the smoothest results.

Roasted Garlic White Sauce for Pizza
 
Ingredients
  • 1 medium onion diced very fine
  • 1 medium bulb of roasted garlic
  • 6 T olive oil
  • 3 C whole milk
  • 2 t dried basil
  • 2 t dried oregano
  • 1½ t salt
  • ½ C grated parmesan cheese
  • pepper to taste
  • 2 T flour
Instructions
  1. For the Roasted Garlic
  2. Preheat oven to 400
  3. Cut the root end off the bulb of garlic and place in a foil pouch.
  4. Cover with 1 t olive oil and a generous pinch of kosher salt
  5. Roast in oven 1 hour or until garlic is fragrant and soft.
  6. For the Sauce
  7. Preheat a 12 inch skillet on medium high until hot
  8. Add olive oil to pan and allow to quickly warm. Add onions all at once and sauté until translucent
  9. Add flout and cook until flour has coated the onions and absorbed the oil in the pan.
  10. Add basil and oregano and salt and stir add milk and cook until thick
  11. Add roasted garlic and stir
  12. Add parmesan cheese and allow to melt while stirring constantly.
  13. Cool sauce to room temp stirring often to ensure a smooth sauce
